Choosing a Holiday Home

Choosing a Unity Holiday home means being able to take holidays at your leisure – but we understand it’s a big decision.

With so many options on the market, it can be challenging to choose the right one. Here’s our comprehensive guide to help you navigate the process of buying a holiday home and making the best decision for you and your family.

What do you need in a holiday home?

When choosing your holiday home, the first thing to do is identify what you want and need.

Jot down the requirements that suit your family dynamics – how many bedrooms you’ll need, whether open-plan living is a must and which features will make your time away that bit more special!

How about bedrooms and bathrooms?

Whether it’s just two of you, the whole family or the prospect of friends or grandchildren coming to stay, it’s time to think about the space you need. A master bedroom with an en-suite is ideal for families or guests, and an extra bedroom is a great way to add privacy and flexibility.

Now think about layout

Our caravans and lodges have an open plan living and kitchen area with bedrooms and bathrooms at the opposite end.

Alternatively, some models have the living and kitchen area in the centre with bedrooms and bathrooms at each end.

Heating and insulation

We have a much longer season than most holiday parks here at Unity Holidays. While exact dates vary from park to park, you can generally use static caravans from mid-February until mid-November and lodges all year round.

While we can guarantee a lot of things, we can never guarantee the weather – so it’s worth factoring in how important it is to have a caravan with double glazing and central heating.

Some of our more budget-friendly holiday homes may have double glazing with a gas fire in the living area and electric panel heaters in the bedrooms. This is ample for many!

The comfort of thermostatic-controlled heating also adds to that home-from-home feel. And if you are considering letting your holiday home, you can offer guests this comfort throughout the whole season.

Selecting the
perfect plot

When choosing your plot, it is worth noting what’s around you. Do you want to be close to the entertainment venues, the children’s play areas or would you prefer a more secluded plot?

Many of the static caravans for sale across our parks at Unity Holidays will already be on a plot. However, many come with the option of choosing an available plot, which may vary depending on availability. Talk to us about your ideal location and we will try to make this a reality!

It’s all about potential

When choosing a holiday home, it’s worth thinking of the rental potential. And if you’re unsure where to start, talking to us is a great place to find out what’s popular and what people are generally looking for when booking a holiday

Rental rates vary depending on the age and specification of the caravan or lodge – so the more you spend, the higher the rental income you can generally achieve.

It is certainly easier to recoup the annual site fees (and more) if you let your holiday home throughout the year.

We do offer multiple finance packages, and our friendly team are happy to go through finance options with you to ensure that we meet your budget requirements.

Getting the keys…

Once you have chosen your perfect holiday home, we usually require a 20% deposit to secure the lodging and plot. Once the full balance has been paid, it then takes around two weeks before we hand the keys over to you.

One of our sales team will welcome you to your new holiday home and explain all the basics, such as use of appliances and all the basics. Happiness begins right then – you can begin enjoying year-after-year of great times in your new home!
