Bristol

Bristol day tripping

If you fancy venturing further afield, head to the historic maritime city of Bristol for a taste of the urban life.

Bristol is a laid-back but lively city filled with art and bursting with character – and it’s easy to get to for a day out from Somerset and Unity Beach. Explore winding arcades filled with unique shops, museums, galleries and streets painted with murals – maybe even a Banksy or two!

Release your culture vulture

Bristol is a fascinating spot for families and groups alike and a trove for art and history. Little ones will love climbing aboard Brunel’ legendary steamship the SS Great Britain or staring up at the dinosaurs at Bristol Museum.

Explore on foot

The best way to explore Bristol is definitely on foot.

Our advice is to wander around the harbourside with a tasty treat in hand (there are plenty to choose from!) and indulge in some shopping at Cabot Circus or The Mall (at Cribbs Causeway).

Tuck into local food & drink

Your tummy won’t be rumbling in Bristol! There are so many different places to eat – everything from food markets to independent restaurants and even a historic pub dating all the way back to 1606.

There’s also a fantastic selection of vegetarian and vegan food, as well as traditional West Country Ciders for over 18s.

See the sights around Bristol

If you’re heading to Bristol, a visit to both the Clifton Suspension Bridge and the adjoining Clifton Observatory is a must. Enjoy spectacular panoramas of the Avon Gorge, the city and – on a clear day – across to Wales from 214m high!

And if you fancy getting even higher (it’s a no thank you from us), you could even take to the skies in a hot air balloon (no, really – we’re fine on the ground, thanks).
